Double sustainability win for COFCO International in Hong Kong and Singapore

COFCO International has won two major regional sustainability awards, both presented on 24 October, underscoring its strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and reporting standards.

In Hong Kong, the company received the Grand Award - International, the highest distinction in that category at the Hong Kong ESG Reporting Awards (HERA), recognising leadership and transparency in sustainable business practices.

On the same day in Singapore, COFCO International won the Gold Award at the 11th Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA) at a dinner event for its ESG reporting performance and progress.
Both awards were accepted by Allan Virtanen, Director Communications & Sustainability, who represented the company at the two ceremonies.

The Hong Kong event was hosted by Joseph Chan, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Government of Hong Kong SAR, while the Singapore ceremony was attended by senior figures including Terence Quek, CEO of the Singapore Institute of Directors; H.E. Nikesh Mehta, British High Commissioner to Singapore; and Dr. Robin Hodess, CEO of Global Reporting Initiative.

COFCO International was recognised for its alignment with leading sustainability reporting frameworks including the EU CSRD, GRI, and UN SDGs. Its double materiality assessment, third-party assurance, and transparent Scope 3 emissions reporting under the SBTi set it apart from other nominees. The company was also commended for tangible progress in deforestation- and conversion-free sourcing and growth in certified sustainable commodity sales.
